Ah, the happy times.

I’m a proud Seattlite, currently living and learning in Queens, NY. Outside of sports, I enjoy crime dramas – specifically police procedurals – as well as a wide range of music, everything from Top 40 to Iron & Wine, Bob Dylan & Rogue Wave.
I am a cat person, which is to say I’m a human who enjoys felines.
I have a tremendous sweet tooth that isn’t very discerning, and I refuse to observe a number of unwritten social rules.

I am a fan of (in no particular order) the Seattle Mariners, the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Sounders F.C., most all University of Washington Huskies sports teams but particularly Football and Basketball, most all St. John’s Red Storm teams but particularly Softball, the United States Men’s National soccer Team, Manchester City F.C., and a few other franchises to a smaller extent. When it comes to the NBA, I will always be a fervent supporter of basketball in Seattle, as I was raised with the Seattle SuperSonics. When the Sonics were stolen away from our fair city, I did begin an allegiance to the Boston Celtics, though it would be difficult to define that relationship as “diehard”. And though I have long identified as a “hater” of the New York Yankees, I have found that it is becoming more and more difficult to delight in the suffering of a team’s fans…in most cases.

My biggest sport is soccer. I played for about 18 years before deciding to pursue academics instead in college. In being Italian, my all-time favorite sports team has to be FC Inter in Italy. I also follow Palermo but that’s mostly because my father was born there and I still have a bunch of family there. When it comes to soccer I’m also a supporter of Manchester United in England and the New York Red Bulls in MLS, while of course also supporting the United States and Italy national teams. I also follow any team anywhere in the world that has an American player. In addition to soccer, I consider myself an avid fan of almost every sport. As I’ve grown older I’ve expanded my sports view to include not only soccer but baseball, football, hockey, golf and various others. I’m a fan of the New York Jets in the NFL, New York Mets in MLB, and the New York Islanders in NHL. Yes I realize none of my American teams have been anything close to successful. But I believe that after years of disappointment, when the time comes that my teams are successful, I will be able to appreciate it a lot more.

BILLY

I’m a proud graduate of the University of Nevada and St. John’s University. I received my bachelor’s degree in journalism with a focus in public relations from Reynolds School of Journalism and my masters in professional studies in international dimensions of sport management from St. John’s University.

I was born in Staten Island, New York and spent the majority of my childhood living in Las Vegas, Nev. so the Yankees, Giants and Knicks are the only home teams I’ve ever known. I also root for all Nevada Wolf Pack and St. John’s teams for obvious reasons.

When I’m not working or watching sports, I waste away my weekends binge watching shows on Netflix and HBO GO. I’m a huge baseball nerd and wish I understood cricket better.
